Daniela and I would like to wish all the Olympic teams good luck and a safe competition! (but of course just a little bit more luck for my home TEAM USA!) :)
It was great to actually be in England during the opening ceremonies, you could feel the excitement! Shame we have to leave back home before the competition really heats up!

Have a SAFE "4th of July"by following these tips!

From somebody who performs with live fireworks on stage... Please have a fun but SAFE 4th of July Holiday!  Be careful...but have a great time!

Below are some safety rules you should read before tonight's big event!  Happy 4th everybody!

Here are some Fireworks safety guidelines for home use:
Never allow children to play with fireworks
Read and follow all warnings and instructions
Be sure other people are out of range before lighting fireworks.
Only light fireworks on a smooth, flat surface away from flammable materials.
Never try to relight fireworks that have not fully functioned.
Keep a bucket of water in case of a malfunction or fire.
Now to apply the CPSC guidelines for fireworks safety:
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: N/A
Here's How:

Line up the home fireworks display with a viewing area on one side only. Don't watch from all sides; it's too hard to keep an eye on all participants if the display is surrounded.
Keep the fireworks sitting on a hard flat surface with nothing flammable around. Dry leaves and foilage are especially dangerous. Look at the plants and grass - if it's yellow and dead, that is not a good place to be setting off fireworks. Concrete or a well-watered, green lawn is the best. Using lawn will keep burn marks off the concrete.
Keep a bucket handy. Fill it about 2/3 full with water and use to soak used fireworks and duds.
Keep a hose with a shut-off nozzle nearby. The water should be on and the hose should be ready to instantly douse any wayward fires.
To make a flat surface on lawn, place a wide piece of lumber across the grass. Soak the lumber with water before placing the fireworks.
Place the fireworks about 6 inches apart along the board in the order they will be lit.
Only one person should light the display. That person should not be drinking alcohol before or during the show and should be at least 14 years old.
Only light one firework at a time.
If a firework doesn't light, or doesn't work after the fuse burns all the way down, it's called a dud. Wait at least 20 minutes after lighting the fuse and then place the dud into the bucket of water.
Wait until each firework is finished before lighting the next.
Sparklers should only be handled by kids older than 12.
Make sure that people with lit sparklers stay at least 10 feet apart.
Put all used sparklers in the water bucket.
After all the fireworks have been lit and all used fireworks and duds have soaked for at least 10 minutes, discard the fireworks in an outside trashcan.
In case of burns during the use of fireworks, follow the tips for How to Treat a Burn.

Never smoke around fireworks!
Do not light fireworks on windy days.
Wear cotton clothing to light fireworks. Synthetic fibers tend to melt onto skin, while cotton does not burn easily.
Use a long-tipped lighter for lighting fireworks to keep hands and faces away from fuses.

What You Need

Five gallon bucket filled 2/3 full with water
Concrete or well-watered lawn at least 15 feet by 10 feet
Five feet or longer piece of lumber at least six inches wide
Viewing area at least 15 feet from the display
Garden hose with shut-off nozzle
Legal fireworks

Spirit Mountain Casino and Extreme Vegas

Well we're back and totally exhausted! Lol

We arrived to Portland June 10th and immediately started installing the show, lighting, curtains, video screens, props, dry ice and tons of special effects!

We literally would work around the clock in shifts... I remember after having only 4 hrs of sleep per night Richard Davis (lighting designer) and myself went back in the theater at 9pm to start programming the final lighting and video cues (and there are over 500!) we left the theater at 9:30AM to pass the dancers, Talina and Daniela
Heading in the rehearsal studio to add the finishing touches to the dance choreography... We slept for a few hrs and then came back in again for a full cue to cue rehearsal which went very well however we all had a heap of notes and repairs that we felt needed to be done before the VIP private performance only a day away, which meant no sleep yet again!

We went to bed at 5am after finally getting each video projection and 6 video screens lined up and in sync with the audio and lighting.. The good news is it looked fantastic!!!

We had a great VIP SHOW and received a standing ovation which wouldn't have happened without the 19 cast and crew! On June 16th we prepared for the main event... Made a few last minute changes to the programming and opened the doors...
At 10 min till Showtime the line for the ticket booth was around the block! We had to hold the show as they needed to bring in 4 more rows of chairs to fit everybody in the event center!

When the lights went down the audience applauded and started shouting giving us backstage a jolt of well needed energy (even redbull wasn't helping the lack of sleep!) the show went great and audience was amazing ! Really had so much fun!
Once again the extreme vegas dancers (who rocked the house by the way!) -Daniela an I walked off stage
with a full standing ovation to a sold out house at the Spirit Mountain Casino

On behalf of Daniela and myself I would like to Thank all of our dancers Andrea, Amy, Marisa, & Lindley for an amazing job! To Talina Goncalves
Thank you so much Daniela couldn't have done it without you...
Alex Branco your work ethic and organization is nothing less then I would expect from any hard working Portuguese ha ha! Thanks for postponing your honeymoon for this gig! Great working with you again buddy!

An of course Richard Davis from
Cirque Du Soleil to Extreme Vegas (boy did you downsize! Ha ha )
Thanks for your "All Niters" and working on no sleep the lighting looked great! And thanks for all the late nite laughs!!!

Of course everybody who helped us put this show together thru the years you have not been forgotten thanks so much! :S

Of course our families for your ongoing support as we travel around the world!

And to my amazing wife... Without you.. This is all for nothing... 💛

Off to the next gig we go!

We will keep you all posted!
